Phyllis resides in Gunter with her husband, David, of 41 years. She is a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She has spent the majority of her career in construction, both residential and commercial as the owner of P. James Custom Homes. Phyllis decided to run for Commissioner to serve the people of this great county. She hopes to improve the state of the roads in her precinct, bring much needed economic development to this county, and spend the tax dollars to benefit the quality of life of our citizens.
Phyllis teaches an adult Sunday School Class at First Baptist Gunter as well as a ladies Bible study. She is very bold in sharing her faith and believes this nation can be turned around by electing strong Christian leaders.
She loves Nascar, working in her yard, trips to the beach and spending time with her family.
Phyllis was honored at the CJCAT Annual Conference and awarded a Certificate for completing the Commissioners Court Advanced Curriculum Certification
Adopted by the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas in 1992, Commissioners Court Advanced Curriculum (CCAC) provides for an advanced, in-depth study of county government specifically for members of Commissioners Court. The program is continually updated as foundational information provided in the original program is merged with material necessitated by legislative changes and the new and varied challenges faced fy a rapidly growing state.
The development of CCAC is a combined effort of the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas, V.G. Young Institute of County Government, a part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service,k and the
Texas Association of Counties.
