TDCJ/SJF Defendants Families

At the time of sentencing the defendant was advised of fines and/or court costs that have been assessed their cases if they have been sentenced to a State Jail Facility or to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. They will NOT receive credit toward court costs and/or fines while in a TDCJ or a State Jail Facility unless it was ordered by the court at the time of sentencing. They are still responsible to pay the remaining balance on the fines and/or court costs after they are released.

Monthly withdrawals may be taken from their commissary account at TDCJ or SJF at the rate of up to 50% of the balance in the commissary account for each case on the initial withdrawal and 10% of the balance in the commissary account for each case for every additional payment that is taken. These withdrawals can be prevented if a family member or a friend can make monthly payments on these cases while they are incarcerated. The payment arrangement must begin before they are transferred to TDCJ or SJF to prevent withdrawals. Once withdrawals begin they will continue until the balance of the fines and/or court costs has been paid in full.

Please note that a Texas Time Payment Fee of $15.00 will be added to all cases that have a remaining balance on the 31st day after sentencing. Also a $2 payment fee will be assessed towards the remaining balance of the fines and/or court costs at the time any payments are made.

If a defendant is released from Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facility or a Texas State Jail Facility they MAY still owe fines and court costs to Grayson County. They need to contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Collections Section immediately upon their release to address these outstanding fines and court costs. Failure to contact this office upon their release could result in a warrant for their arrest.

Any family member of friend of a defendant that has been sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice or a Texas State Jail Facility can contact the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Collection Section in reference to these fines and court costs.
