This society was organized in 1977 for the purpose of fostering and maintaining interest in genealogy and history among Grayson County residents. Within its first three years, the society published a major volume on the genealogy of county residents and general history of the county. Other activities have included sponsorship of workshops, presentation of informative programs at regular meetings, and publication of a bulletin. Substantial genealogical resource material has been acquired and placed in the Denison and Sherman public libraries.
